is looking for a Lead Quality Control Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX.

The Lead Quality Control Engineer position involves administration and execution of both quality assurance and quality control in a metal machining environment.

The ideal candidate will be a strong, conscientious person who can work collaboratively with the manufacturing, procurement, engineering, and customer service teams to eliminate defects and continuously improve quality.

The quality function is also responsible to closely monitor production, ensure conformance with product tolerances, and to investigate defects.

Regularly scheduled reports of program progress, investigation findings, root causes and corrective actions will be made to the Plant GM and Operations Team.


Responsibilities:
Execute incoming, first piece, first article, in-process, and final inspection and testing to ensure product conformance to requirements.
Work with production managers and machine operators to resolve dimensional and other product quality issues to prevent recurrence.
Propose new methods, tools, fixturing, etc to improve quality, repeatability and reduce costs.
Lead or conduct investigations and corrective actions for defects, notifications, and customer complaints
Conduct Valve Performance testing as necessary.
Investigate, establish, and implement requirements for inspection and testing methods, techniques, equipment, and facilities.
Maintain quality control instruments, such as gages and test equipment and the calibration database.
Create/verify necessary paperwork as required by in-house and/or by customers.
Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and making recommendations.
Communicate quality issues to plant leadership. front line leaders and factory personnel and lead root cause and permanent corrective action documentation. Works with plant personnel to lead root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
Present Non-Conformance and Corrective Action updates to the Operations Team.
Reviews quality standards, tolerances, and engineering changes.
May act as an organizational contact for customer concerns and ensure appropriate corrective actions are deployed.
Direct the disposition and analysis of returned material and internal non-conforming product. Ensure that actions are identified and completed.

Competencies


Use of measuring equipment including Optical Comparator and Coordinate Measuring Machine, magnetic particle inspection, and standard equipment such as micrometers, comparators, gage blocks, calipers, radius gauges, ring and plug gauges, hardness testers, indicators, thread gauges and protractors, etc.

Knowledge of precision machining operations. Technical understanding of machined metal industrial parts.
Knowledge and understanding of machining operations, inspection instruments.
Attention to detail, utilizing data analysis to support decision-making
Math and statistical skills
Hands-on, inquisitive and has a root cause approach to problem-solving.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Six Sigma/Black belt knowledge desired
Prior ISO 9001 implementation a plus
