Job Overview

Automation Control Service, LLC is seeking a Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to enhance our dynamic workforce. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional efficiency and possess a comprehensive understanding of the technical principles, theories, and methodologies related to the design, programming, testing, and implementation of electrical and industrial control systems. This role involves addressing a variety of intricate challenges.

Key Responsibilities

The Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Creating detailed System Designs, including:
    • One-Line Diagrams
    • Panel schedules
    • Conduit and conductor sizing
    • Overcurrent device sizing
    • Load Calculations
    • P&IDs
    • Control System Network Design (Fiber Optic, Radio Telemetry, Ethernet)
    • Loop Sheets
    • Motor elementary drawings
    • Control panel schematics
    • Control panel layout drawings
    • Electrical system interconnect drawings
    • Installation details
  • Programming Control Systems, including:
    • PLC Programming (RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Unity Pro, Siemens S7)
    • Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) / SCADA (Factory Talk View ME & SE, Wonderware, IFix, VTScada)

Additionally, the candidate will manage projects from the proposal stage through to system commissioning.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Engineering or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Professional Engineer registration in the State of Florida is required.
  • Preferred candidates will have over ten (10+) years of proven experience in the industrial, municipal, or utility sectors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, PLC Programming, and HMI Software, with the ability to configure various equipment (Network, VFD, RVSS, Instrumentation, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, UL, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of professional interaction with colleagues, management, and clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail and a willingness to learn new technologies rapidly.
  • Technical writing skills, including the creation of operation sequences, testing plans, and training materials for operators.
Essential Functions
  • Act as the senior project engineer for multiple assignments, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Provide technical support to clients via phone, remote connections, or on-site visits.
  • Conduct peer reviews of design documents.
  • Evaluate vendor specifications and submittals.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering motivation and skill development.
  • Develop scopes of work, equipment take-offs, labor estimates, and client proposals.
Work Environment
  • Collaborate effectively within a team to achieve project objectives.
  • This position may require occasional travel for commissioning and training purposes.
  • The candidate must be capable of:
    • Operating a motorized vehicle.
    • Identifying and mitigating potential electrical and construction hazards.
    • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for fieldwork, including arc flash gear, hard hats, hearing protection, eye protection, and steel-toe boots.
    • Working near energized electrical equipment or hazardous machinery.
    • Occasionally traversing uneven terrain and working at heights.
