Duties

This is a trainee position in the Media Bureau's, Audio Division.

The incumbent of this position reviews and analyzes the legal, technical and financial information included in a variety of broadcast licensing applications for commercial and non-commercial educational AM, FM, FM Translator and FM Booster radio services, and the non-commercial educational Low Power FM radio service.

The incumbent utilizes diverse FCC databases to obtain and/or update broadcast application and licensing data in order to evaluate and take action on application filings; and provide assistance to applicants in completing the broadcast forms for submission and acceptance in the Media Bureau's electronic filing system.

The incumbent will also review and analyze a range of documents filed with the Commission and prepare responses. The incumbent will participate and consult with the supervisor in advising and responding to inquiries from applicants, their legal/engineering counsel, petitioners, other interested parties, and prospective applicants, with respect to Commission procedures, rules, law and policy; and in responding to inquiries from members of Congress and their staffs.

TRAINEE POSITION OF: Industry Analyst

Pay Plan: GS Series: 1101 Grades: GS-07

THIS POSITION HAS POTENTIAL FOR ONE-TIME ACCELERATED PROMOTION IN 6 MONTHS.

Upon satisfactory completion of an upward mobility training and developmental program the employee will be eligible for placement in a target position and grade of:

Title: Industry Analyst Pay Plan: GS Series: 1101 Grade: 09

An individual training plan will be designed for the individual selected and will cover the entire training period. The plan will specify developmental assignments involving on-the-job training as well as formal training courses. The training plan will correspond to the particular needs of the individual selected in order to meet the requirements of the target position.

Note: Further advancement will depend upon the ultimate full performance grade level of the position and involve normal career progression based upon future performance, availability of work and completion of regular qualifications and time-in-grade requirements.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
