Position Overview
This is a trainee role within the Media Bureau's Audio Division.


The selected candidate will assess and interpret the legal, technical, and financial details contained in various broadcast licensing applications for both commercial and non-commercial educational AM, FM, FM Translator, and FM Booster radio services, as well as the non-commercial educational Low Power FM radio service.


The incumbent will leverage a variety of FCC databases to gather and/or update broadcast application and licensing information to evaluate and act on application submissions. Additionally, the role involves assisting applicants in completing the necessary broadcast forms for submission through the Media Bureau's electronic filing system.


The analyst will also review and evaluate a range of documents submitted to the Commission and prepare appropriate responses.


Furthermore, the incumbent will collaborate with the supervisor to provide guidance and respond to inquiries from applicants, their legal or engineering representatives, petitioners, and other interested parties regarding Commission procedures, regulations, laws, and policies. This includes addressing inquiries from congressional members and their staff.

This position has the potential for a one-time accelerated promotion within six months.

Upon successful completion of a training and developmental program, the employee will be eligible for placement in a target position and grade of:

A personalized training plan will be developed for the selected individual, covering the entire training duration. This plan will outline developmental assignments that include both on-the-job training and formal training courses, tailored to meet the specific needs of the individual to fulfill the requirements of the target position.
Note:

Future advancement will depend on the ultimate full performance grade level of the position and will involve standard career progression based on future performance, availability of work, and completion of regular qualifications and time-in-grade requirements.

Experience:

Experience encompasses both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer activities through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer experience contributes to essential competencies, knowledge, and skills, providing valuable training that translates directly to paid employment. All qualifying experience, including volunteer work, will be credited.
