Summary

The School of Social Work at the University of Michigan seeks a full-time Research Coordinator for an NIH-funded R01 project (empower-at-home.com). Funding for this position is available through May 2029. This project focuses on implementing and evaluating an online psychotherapy program for older adults in community settings. The Research Coordinator will work closely with the principal investigator, research team members, and community agency partners to ensure the smooth operation and success of the project. Responsibilities will include planning and overseeing research activities, coordinating study visits and data collection, managing data, conducting clinical assessments, managing human subjects, training research staff, and preparing reports for sponsors.

Responsibilities*

  • Manage human subjects, including tracking enrollment and maintaining accurate records.
  • Conduct screening, assessment, and consent procedures as needed.
  • Supervise research team members, such as research assistants.
  • Coordinate and attend site visits.
  • Perform data analysis (qualitative) and ensure data integrity.
  • Coordinate with project team members and community partners to align project goals and activities.
  • Ensure compliance with research protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Plan and oversee research study activities, ensuring they are conducted efficiently and effectively.
  • Train and support research staff in conducting study-related tasks.


Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in clinical research coordination or a related role.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data management.
  • Experience in qualitative data analysis.
  • Experience with human subjects research and familiarity with IRB protocols.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • This position may involve traveling to various locations on and off campus.


Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related field.
  • Licensed or eligible for LMSW in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience in supervising research staff.
  • Familiarity with online psychotherapy programs and digital mental health interventions.
  • Experience working with older adult populations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for NIH-funded research.
  • Experience with community-based research and partnerships.
  • Proficiency in REDCap or other electronic data capture systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project needs.
  • Knowledge of how to manage participants with suicidal ideation.
  • Knowledge or experience with conducting clinical mental health assessments.


Work Schedule

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with flexibility of start or end time within this time frame. You are expected to work 8 hours a day, with a 30 or 60-minute unpaid lunch break. See University of Michigan policies regarding workplace expectations: .

Work Locations

You will have an office at the School of Social Work building. Hybrid work is permitted with supervisor approval (3 days in-person and 2 days remote), but fully remote work is not allowed for this position.
