The Company Job Purpose

Support the Product Development team by providing Quality Assurance with for software development, maintenance, and support. As part of Modular’s Product Development team, the Software QA Engineer will research, design, build and improve the quality of the products. Develop unit tests, automation tests, simulation tools, and Test Plans to ensure our products high quality. Analyze, decompose large software systems and design a strategy to test this system using the knowledge of System Design. Develop tools/frameworks to increase the productivity of day-to-day activities from Software and QA engineering teams using the knowledge of System Design.  Perform analysis, estimating work, creating and updating software architecture and design using the knowledge of System Design. Help define and negotiate the scope of releases, suggest process improvements, as well as make recommendations for structural and technical improvements.  Assist Quality Engineering team with manual software testing to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality. Assist Software Engineering team with writing and executing tests to assess broader quality concerns.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participates in test planning, creating traceability to requirements, risk-based testing, estimation, and scheduling of QA efforts
  • Develops and maintains test cases, traceability, procedures, scripts, and test data for verifying quality of OEM Drivers
  • Develops and executes plans to identify, document, and mitigate technical risks
  • Directly participates in the execution of manual and automated system test procedures for delivering reports of pass/fail results compared to quality plan
  • Continuous monitoring and enhancement of approaches and methodologies to improve testing.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical degree with emphasis in software Quality Assurance.
  • Proven knowledge in Requirements Management, Quality Control, and Configuration Management
  • Understanding of networking protocols, wired and wireless networking
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and within team environment
  • Detail oriented, excellent planning and communication skills
Desired Skills
  • Knowledge of Scripting Languages (PowerShell)
  • Experience working with SQL databases
