The Russ College of Engineering and Technology’s Department of Aviation at Ohio University is actively seeking a dynamic individual to assume the role of Associate Professor of Instruction and join our esteemed team of aviation professionals. As part of our vibrant and diverse community, the successful candidate will bring a wealth of energy, drive, and expertise to support the continuous growth of our aviation programs.
With a focus on serving over 200 students across Aviation Management and Flight Option concentrations, we are searching for a candidate with a Master’s degree in aviation or a related field, showcasing a comprehensive grasp of aviation principles and practices. Essential to this role are FAA certifications and ratings tailored for Part 141 instruction, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional collaboration skills, fostering effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and administrators from various backgrounds. Proficiency in leveraging technology for both online and in-person classroom instruction is paramount. It’s important to note that this position primarily entails teaching responsibilities and does not involve flight activities.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will undertake a workload of four courses per semester, contributing to both undergraduate aviation flight and management programs. Additionally, they will fulfill service commitments within the department, college, and university communities, actively participating in the advancement of our academic and institutional objectives.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in aviation or related field by start date.
FAA certifications and ratings appropriate for 14 CFR Part 141 ground instruction.
Flexibility to instruct ground courses in the aviation management and flight operations majors.
Strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
Willingness to work with a diverse student base.
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in aviation or related field.
Knowledge of transport category aircraft systems and operations.
A background in commercial, corporate, or military pilot operations.
