Augusta University College of Nursing is seeking a dedicated full-time faculty member for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program, specifically for the Family Nurse Practitioner track. This role is available at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The College of Nursing is a vital part of Georgia's only publicly funded comprehensive academic health science center, which includes schools of medicine, dentistry, and allied health sciences. Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may differ based on DNP concentration, expertise, and academic rank:
- Deliver engaging didactic instruction in core DNP and concentration courses.
- Oversee course coordination and assessment.
- Collaborate with preceptors to enhance student learning and evaluation.
- Contribute to curriculum development and assessment.
- Participate in college and university committees.
- Guide students through their DNP projects.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including presentations and publications.
- Additional responsibilities may vary by DNP concentration.
Applicants must possess a doctorate degree relevant to the field (PhD or DNP).
Current nursing licensure in Georgia or eligibility to apply for such licensure is mandatory.
National Board Certification in the Family Nurse Practitioner specialty is required.
Assistant Professor candidates should be early in their academic careers, while Associate Professor candidates should have at least five years of experience at the Assistant Professor level or equivalent qualifications.
All candidates must meet the faculty employment standards set by USG institutions, which include:
- Compliance with SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
- Demonstrated teaching ability.
- Evidence of scholarly activity and competency in assigned duties.
- Successful experience, which may be waived for new entrants into academia who meet other criteria.
- Favorable personal attributes assessed through interviews and references.
Experience in academic teaching, both didactic and clinical, is preferred. Familiarity with technology-enhanced teaching strategies, including simulation and active learning methods, is advantageous. Recognition for contributions to the nursing profession at local, regional, or national levels is desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a full-time, year-round position with a commitment of 1.0 FTE.
Compensation for Assistant and Associate Professors will be based on education, experience, and accomplishments, subject to funding availability.
Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness programs, and more.
Faculty advancement is contingent upon the annual Promotion and Tenure process, typically occurring in five-year increments.
