Bishop Gadsden located on James Island, is a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community and is located on 134 acres of lush marshlands and majestic oaks on James Island, just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston.

The Human Resources Operations Assistant position provides support to the Human Resources Department and will embody a customer-centric approach, providing exceptional support to both internal and external customers. They will actively listen to concerns, promptly address inquiries, and offer tailored solutions to meet diverse needs. Their empathy, professionalism, and effective communication skills will foster strong relationships and cultivate a positive customer experience. The Human Resources Operations Assistant will make everyone feel welcome and important, while presenting a positive and professional image of BG and the Human Resources Department.

 

A Typical Day:

  • Manages the HR inbox, promptly responding to employment inquiries and forwarding requests to appropriate parties when necessary.
  • Prioritizes prompt follow up and delivers timely and accurate responses or redirects inquiries to help employees resolve their needs effectively. 
  • Collaborates closely with the Human Resources Operations Manager, providing support with reporting and HRIS administration. 
  • Maintains comprehensive employee records, ensuring accuracy and completeness of critical details such as contact information, job classifications, pay rates, organizational structure, and other pertinent data. 
  • Handles employment verification requests, providing timely and accurate information within a 24-hour window. 
  • Conducts or supports record audits and mandatory reporting, including I-9 audits, EEO filings, and compliance reviews. 
  • Greets HR office visitors; answer/return phone calls, assist with HR related inquiries or requests as appropriate and/or direct to the appropriate HR Team Member.
  • Contributes to the planning and preparations of materials for HR-related events and award ceremonies, ensuring a seamless and well-organized experience for attendees and honorees. 
  • Prepares and sends departmental correspondence, such as birthday cards, sympathy cards, and other greetings, fostering a warm and supportive workplace culture. 
  • Adhere and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

What We Need In A Candidate:

  • Bachelor/Associate Degree preferred, or a high school diploma with 5 years Human Resource experience. 

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Experience working within a HRIS system, Paylocity preferred.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, prioritization, and follow up skills. 
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, proactively identifying opportunities for process optimization and implementing best practice solutions. 
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
  • Attention to detail is a MUST.
  • Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material.
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
