Position Information

The Director of Facilities & Operations has the overall responsibility for direct oversight of facility maintenance and management of Intercollegiate Athletics facilities with emphasis on safety, functionality, presentation, and ensuring that intercollegiate facilities are at or above Division I expectations. This position will operate within an atmosphere of compliance, and integrity and within the scope and intent of NCAA, conference, and University regulations. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive departmental facility safety and maintenance plan to be revised annually as necessary. This role will be responsible for working with the intercollegiate compliance department on compliance-related matters and paperwork within areas of responsibility.

The full salary range for the Director of Facilities & Operations is $59,000 to $103,400 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $59,000 to $70,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time.  Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.



Education

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience in related area or equivalent combination (Required)
  • Masters degree. (Preferred)
Certification Requirements
  • Turf Grass Management (or equivalent) (Preferred)


Experience Requirements
  • 4 - 7 years of related experience. (Required)
  • 3 - 5 years of experience performing athletics facilities/event management (Preferred)


Minimum Requirements

Proficiency in the use of basic computer applications relevant to job duties. Problem-solving skills; multi-task, work with frequent interruptions, and effective listener. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Successful experience performing all duties with the highest standards of professionalism and ethical behavior and in accordance with institutional and collegiate athletics program regulations, policies, and procedures. Skills and experience to supervise part-time and student employees. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple work priorities and to plan and manage large projects and events. Thorough knowledge of program activity and best practices. Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Proven ability to perform physically demanding work, moving materials weighing up to 70 pounds to and from pickup trucks, carts, and loading docks using hand trucks, dollies, or other moving devices. Ability to utilize basic maintenance tools and field maintenance equipment.



Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of facilities administration issues and practices. Experience in general scoreboard/ public address system calibration and maintenance. Ability to utilize appropriate facility management software & applications. General knowledge of all UCR sponsored intercollegiate sports and their facility requirements. Knowledge of synthetic and natural turf. Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
