Job Overview:

Position: Legal Secretary/Legal Assistant

Location: Agoura Hills, California

Work Environment: On-site only (no remote work)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Calendaring: Manage deadlines for pleadings and discovery.
  • Document Preparation: Create correspondence, discovery requests, and pleadings, including Tables of Authorities (TOA) and Tables of Contents (TOC) for briefs.
  • Communication: Answer phones and coordinate depositions and related court services.
  • File Maintenance: Organize and maintain electronic and paper files.
  • Transcription: Transcribe dictation.
  • Billing: Prepare and track client invoices.
  • Interactions: Communicate with courtroom staff, clients, and opposing counsel.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a litigation role within a California law office or legal setting.
  • Skills:
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Corel Word Perfect, Adobe, Excel, and billing software.
  • Typing speed: 90 words per minute; transcription speed: 80 words per minute.
  • Familiarity with generating TOC's and TOA's.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and nomenclature.
