Position Summary

   

 

 

Ensures effective ordering, receipt, and handling of supplies and equipment needed by the facility and staff for clinical purposes.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

   

 

 

  • Completes on a daily basis: receiving, warehousing, inventory control, supply distribution.
  • Follows all policies and procedures related to materials management from the hospital.
  • Assists with establishment and monitoring of par levels.
  • Assists the Director to establish stock and non stock supply items to ensure supply, service and equipment needs are met at all times for patients.
  • Helps to maintain a clean and organized central supply room and par level areas.
  • Assists the Director with daily inventories of contract equipment/supplies in the hospital and processes charges.
  • Notifies Director if equipment is in need of repair or is not functioning properly, and helps to maintain current documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Safety/Infection Control

 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to regulations, policies and  procedures pertaining to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety and hazardous materials
  • Complies with the National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate
  • Follows all safety rules while on the job.  Reports all accidents and corrects minor safety hazards.  Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience required as an Inventory Control Clerk or Assistant in a hospital environment.
LANGUAGE/MATH/REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    Ability to write simple correspondence.
    Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
    Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
