We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist to support our Financial Management team in a hybrid of remote and on-site work out of our Columbia, MD corporate office location.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, as well as government contract requirements such as the Service Contract Act (SCA) and Union. Manage time and attendance systems, ensuring accurate tracking of hours worked by employees. Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, earnings, deductions, and benefits. Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues from employees and management. Coordinate with HR and accounting departments to ensure consistency and accuracy in payroll processing. Provide training to employees on payroll processes and timekeeping systems.
Minimum Requirements
An associates/bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience can sometimes substitute for education. Proficiency in Payroll software (., UKG/Ultipro). Experience with Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing. Ability to analyze payroll data and resolve discrepancies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively. Proficiency with MS Excel and MS Word. Team player. Willing to learn. Able to cope with a fast-paced environment. Ability to work with all levels of the management team. Strong organizational skills. Detail oriented.
