Summary of Job Duties:

Clinical Research Manager is responsible for administrative leadership and supervisory oversight of Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs) and Data Analysts (DAs). Assists in hiring process and training of CRCs and DAs and routinely evaluates staff performance, counsels and mentors direct reports, and initiates disciplinary action when necessary. Will serve as the technical expert for data collection and management for their team. Position must be able to organize complex projects, provide attention to detail, and communicate effectively. Manages the day-to-day operations and objectives in support of the assigned portfolio. Contributes information and ideas related to areas of responsibility as part of a cross functional team. Ensures effective and efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards for staff/program and self. Develops and reviews departmental/divisional standard operating procedures. Maintains a working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations and the code of conduct for human research. Works directly with pharmaceutical company sponsors, cooperative group personnel, institutional investigators, research staff, clinical staff, and various support staff across UAMS campus. Conducts complex work important to the organization. Contributes to measurable team and/or organization objectives.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree PLUS 7 years clinical research experience w/demonstrated proficiency in study planning/development, study coordination/management and data collection

CCRP, CCRC, or equivalent

Must obtain CRS Certification required within 2 years of hire.

Knowledge of clinical biomedical and/or behavioral research

Knowledge of Federal Good Clinical Practice Guidelines

Knowledge and skill with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and e-mail computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

Oncology research experience

National clinical research certification greater than 3 years

Knowledge of medical terminology


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Oversees and/or reviews the processes for preparation of proposals pertaining to contracts, education programs, healthcare services and in researching new opportunities and new resources to improve or extend organizational programs.

Coordinates the activities of assigned committees to ensure compliance with UAMS and National Institutes of Health (NIH) policies. This includes, but is not limited to, organizing meetings, running reports, distributing reports, communicating with study teams, engaging with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) as needed, taking minutes, and maintaining all relevant documents.

Ensures the divisions' administrative and financial operations are completed successfully within the framework of UAMS policies and applicable state and federal regulations.

Works directly with Department Administrator in developing financial management processes and administrative processes, reports, project budgets, clinical trial invoicing systems, trial subject tracking, and various other financial documents.

Assists directors in long-range plans and strategies that further internal and external goals.

Provides consultation and assistance to faculty in preparation of new research projects, clinical trials, and initiatives.

Supervises and provides general oversight to staff.

Contributes to the development of job descriptions, screens and interviews potential hires, trains staff, and engages in ongoing disciplinary actions as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.
