The Capital Team within the Citywide Technical Services division collaborates with Parks' leadership to evaluate, plan and rebuild facilities that require significant improvements. As the State of Good Repair Program Manager, you will oversee the implementation of a range of Capital State of Good Repair Projects that have a positive impact on community growth, public health, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, and recreation opportunities across all five boroughs of New York City.

Major Responsibilities
-Under general supervision, perform Horticulture and/or Forestry functions toward the execution of State of Good Repair reconstruction projects involving varying levels of complexity for the Citywide Capital Projects division.
-Manage all aspects towards the construction of the Citywide State of Good Repair contracts program, including, contracts, budgets, operations, reporting, policies and procedures.
-Monitor contractors’ day-to-day operations: including but not limited to the review and/or inspection of contractors’ work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. Monitor compliance with site safety and labor law requirements, identify and resolve field condition issues.
-Perform administrative tasks towards the execution of state of good repair contracts including but not limited to the processing of change orders, daily and weekly construction project reports, calculation books, cost projections, time extensions, correspondence, run meetings and evaluate vendors performance.
-Collaborate with design project managers to ensure the timely completion of shop drawing approvals, requests for information, design directives, permits, design and the interpretation of documents.
-Research latest industry performance and safety standards; apply findings to new state of good repair contracts.
-Provide regular updates on the status of a portfolio of state of good repair contracts and ensure that projects advance in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college with major study in horticulture, arboriculture, or landscape architecture and four years of full-time, paid experience in horticultural work of which two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive capacity; or

2. A satisfactory equivalent. However, all candidates must have at least a high school diploma or evidence of having passed an examination for a high school equivalency diploma and one year of supervisory, administrative, consultative, managerial, or executive experience as described above.


Preferred Skills
1.Strong knowledge of agency structure and divisions and/or government operations. 2.Excellent writing, supervisory, organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills. 3.Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 4.Experience supervising contractors. 5.Valid New York State driver license.
