The Violence Intervention Program (VIP) partners with Latinx communities to end gender-based violence.  Created as a grassroots response to intimate partner violence and sexual assault, VIP has always centered survivors in its leadership and has worked to create a community of staff that reflects the rich national, ethnic and racial diversity of the communities it serves. VIP runs three community social service programs, and two residential shelter and housing programs, in addition to a robust community engagement department.

 

Moriviví Residential Program is a 51 bed scattered site safe dwelling. The goal of this program is to provide short term, emergency shelter for people fleeing domestic violence. Program staff work with each participant to develop an individualized action plan that connects them to support services and helps them secure permanent housing. Supportive services include: counseling, support groups, case management, children’s services, referrals for educational/vocational facilities, job preparation and health promotion for women and children.

 

The Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations of the program and the safe dwellings. In addition to acting as VIP’s primary coordinator to assure that all efforts are fully met and exceed contractual obligations (programmatic and administrative) and direct the day-to-day activities of risk management, safety/security, maintenance and client move-in/turn-over. The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring 24/7 services to all program participants and may also be called upon for late night and weekend assistance.

 

Essential Functions:

Program Management

  • The Program Director will ensure that the program operates in accordance with the guidelines identified by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) with the operational guidelines and support of Human Resource Administration (HRA)
  • Manage all contracts to ensure highest degree of program performance and ensure compliance with all state and local laws, policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Create and maintain accurate and comprehensive data including statistical information for reporting purposes as determined by VIP and agency funders; including data on delivery of services and occupancy rates.
  • Supervise staff; facilitate case conferences and trainings to ensure excellent standards and efficiency in the delivery of services to clients.
  • Supervise the development and implementation of supportive programs for victims/survivors of domestic violence.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans for the program as needed.
  • Develop a network of emergency services and updated staff schedules to ensure efficient delivery of services and 24 hour coverage.
  • Complete regular inspections of all safe dwellings, including fire inspections, and ensure maintenance (emergency and routine repairs, etc.) of all sites.
  • Engage, contract, supervise and approve invoices and expenditures for all goods/services required to maintain facility and support services. Coordinates bids from vendors for necessary property improvements.
  • Continually update operations manual for the program.
  • Maintain complete and accurate property files and records.
  • Responsible for the supervision of all property safety/security measures.
  • Follow-up after program audits or evaluations to improve program performance.
  • Monitor the program’s effectiveness in reaching the goals of permanent housing, securing clients’ employment and establishing family stability
  • Analyze, develop and implement procedures and policies to ensure quality service provision
  • Ensure compliance with all child welfare mandated reporting requirements.
  • Perform other tasks as required, including any related supervisory and administrative duties as needed.
  • Establish formal relationships with Department of Homeless Services, Human Resource Administration, and other domestic violence shelters.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of linkages with community-based educational, vocational, employment, and support services.
  • Establish linkages with appropriate community agencies for services that benefit shelter residents, to including but not limited to medical, mental health, substance abuse, child welfare.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled agency and program meetings including supervision sessions, case conferences, agency-wide staff meetings, development meetings, etc.
  • Represent the agency at events including task force meetings, committee meetings, community board meetings, conferences, residential coalitions, trainings, workshops, etc.
  • Model the use of Evidence Based Practices (EBP), Trauma Informed Care (TIC) and Motivational Interviewing (MI)
  • Capacity building in all programs of the agency – each staff member will demonstrate competency with incorporating financial literacy in the performance of their responsibilities.
  • Assist Human Resource Manager with the recruitment and selection of staff.
  • Orient and train all new staff; including staff development.
  • Supervise volunteer (s) and/or intern (s)
  • Distribute and review appropriate application material to volunteer (s) and/or Intern (s)
  • Determine and prepare volunteer (s) and/or intern (s) daily, weekly, or monthly schedules
  • Oversee and coordinate volunteer (s) and/or intern (s) in providing VIP participants with direct services and support

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to VIP’s mission, vision and values
  • Master’s degree in social work, human services or comparable degrees; License preferred
  • A minimum of two years of experience managing, coordinating and developing programs including directly supervising direct, social workers, case managers and/or direct service staff.
  • Must be fully bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Experience working with shelters and/or safe dwellings, Department of Homelessness (DHS), Human Resources Administration (HRA) contracts and TANF eligibility preferred.
  • Must have the ability to operate office equipment such as computers, copy machine, fax machine, phone systems, etc. with strong internet and software skills; incl. Microsoft Office and client database.

  • Excellent writing, communication, and documenting skills required; incl. public speaking skills.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication with appropriate tone
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet clients’ needs and engage in community outreach activities (i.e., on-call; nights; weekends).
  • Must be willing and able to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • Flexibility handling frequently changing policies and requirements of government and philanthropy.
  • Must ensure agency, program and client confidentiality at all times.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Full-time, exempt position, working 35 hours per week with a salary of $85,000 per year.
