The North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) is seeking a Marketing Communications Specialist. The ideal candidate will develop and execute strategic email marketing and social media plans to effectively promote the Association’s brand and initiatives across various channels. This role involves creating compelling content, managing an email marketing platform, managing social media channels and analyzing campaign performance to drive successful communication outcomes. This position will be based in Raleigh with the option to occasionally work remotely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs, coordinates and manages Association email marketing communications to ensure they are visually appealing, on-brand and effectively convey key messages
  • Maintains and updates email lists for membership and weekly communications, ensuring accuracy and segmentation for targeted messaging
  • Analyzes engagement metrics to refine and improve email campaigns
  • Develops and implements social media strategies to enhance the Association’s online presence, increase engagement and drive traffic to key initiatives
  • Develops and maintains content calendars for social media platforms to ensure a consistent and strategic flow of posts
  • Actively monitors social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, responding promptly and appropriately to engage with the audience and manage the Association’s online reputation
  • Produces engaging videos and graphics tailored for social media platforms, supporting the overall social media strategy with compelling visual content
  • Collaborates with the Association’s production department to plan, schedule, and execute video and photo shoots relative to social media and email marketing strategies
  • Writes articles for Association’s publications
  • Shares responsibility for overseeing the communications department’s email account, handling incoming messages, and ensuring timely and appropriate responses
  • Assists with Association events as the communications team representative; duties include developing promotional materials, coordinating event communications, managing media coverage and ensuring that all event-related communications are handled effectively to enhance event success

Expected Hiring Range: $52,000-$56,000

Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field is required
  • Minimum of one to three years’ professional experience in marketing communications, public relations, social media or a similar role

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

  • Strong knowledge of marketing and communications principles, including digital marketing, content strategy and brand management
  • Proficiency in content creation for various media, including social media, emails and blogs
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive and engaging messages
  • Knowledge of current marketing trends and industry developments to keep strategies fresh and competitive
  • Proficiency working within email marketing systems (such as MailChimp or MailerLite)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat)
  • Proficiency in Canva or similar graphic design software
  • Ability to maintain office records and to prepare accurate reports
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff, elected officials, member agencies and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment and office assistance techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling and grammar
  • Proofreading skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of AP style format

Miscellaneous

This role will be based at the NCACC office in Raleigh with the option to occasionally work remotely. Typical work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
