As a Payroll Specialist Your Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Managing and processing semi-monthly payroll for a large number of employees


• Handling paperwork for new employees and processing all salary changes, bonus payouts, and rectifying errors


• Responding to employee inquiries about payroll-related matters


• Overseeing the electronic timekeeping system, including reviewing timesheets, correcting exceptions, and training supervisory staff


• Addressing issues related to missed punches/timecard exceptions/PTO inquiries in a supervisor’s absence


• Calculating payable hours, bonuses, tax withholdings, and deductions


• Adding local and state jurisdictions to payroll portal, including filing for unemployment insurance ID numbers with specific states and adding to the validation tables


• Interacting with state tax agencies as needed


• Conducting a detailed review of the payroll register semi-monthly


• Conducting training for employees and managers on time and attendance


• Preparing W-2 forms and ACA 1095-C forms


• Issuing paychecks and managing direct deposits


• Maintaining accurate employee records and coordinating with the HR team to ensure correct employee data


• Assisting the accounting department as needed


• Completing monthly reporting tasks, including providing partners with accurate and timely headcount report, weekly overtime reports, audits, and timekeeping comparisons.


• Assisting with special projects as needed.

The ideal Payroll Specialist candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Accounting preferred.


• Understanding of Accounting Functions.


• Auditing skills are required.


• Knowledge of Benefit Functions is important.


• Knowledge of 401k - RRSP Administration.


• Demonstrated proficiency in Accounting Software Systems.


• Experience with ADP - Financial Services.


• Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now is essential.


• Proficiency in using Ceridian and Dayforce.
