About the Role

Salem Hospital, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at MGB NSMC Salem Hospital. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct care to patients within our inpatient psychiatric units, promoting their recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities
  • Provide effective mental health interventions to assigned patients, coordinating individual cases with the multidisciplinary team and completing related documentation.
  • Represent Salem Hospital in a professional manner, adhering to and enforcing all Mass General Brigham & Salem Hospital policies and guidelines, as well as federal regulations and program requirements.
  • Participate in patient admissions, take vital signs, and meet with patients on a daily basis as assigned by the Registered Nurse, to provide therapeutic and supportive counseling.
  • Assist patients to meet basic ADL needs, provide behavioral interventions to manage patients as needed, and demonstrate knowledge and ability to deploy less restrictive alternatives in managing agitated patients.
  • Participate in patient restraints as directed by a licensed nurse, assist with group programming, and act as a group leader, observing and directing group therapy sessions.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings and attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent. Will accept 5+ years of related experience in lieu of high school diploma/G.E.D.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or actively working towards or completion of a related Bachelor's Degree program in Behavioral Health or Human Services.
  • Requires successful completion of restraint and de-escalation training required within 30 days of hire, and annually.
  • Requires successful completion of AVADE Training.
