About the Role

Marion County is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health conditions to achieve recovery and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support, encouragement, and assistance to individuals in care, promoting activities that foster recovery and empowerment.
  • Act as an advocate, facilitating and connecting individuals to services and activities that promote self-efficacy.
  • Model skills for and provide consultation to fellow ACT team members, promoting a culture of individualized care.
  • Document clinical records accurately and timely, meeting performance expectations for time and billing standards.
  • Participate fully as a member of the Marion County ACT team, contributing to individual treatment planning, team meetings, and crisis intervention.
Requirements
  • Self-identified person with mental health experience, preferably in recovery from an addiction disorder.
  • Must possess a current driver's license and an acceptable driving history.
  • Must successfully complete a Mental Health-approved peer support training program within six months of hire.
  • Ability to understand and carry out directions and instructions, maintain confidentiality, and provide documentation consistent with department standards.
  • Willingness to work hours conducive to reaching the identified population and establish cooperative working relationships with individuals, coworkers, and other agencies.
