About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team at Marion County. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with mental health conditions to achieve recovery and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Support and Encouragement: Offer one-on-one coaching and consultation to participants to promote recovery and self-direction.
  • Facilitate Wellness Management and Recovery Strategies: Connect individuals to services and activities that foster recovery and empowerment, and provide skills training in daily living skills and other areas as needed.
  • Model Skills for Team Members: Provide expertise, experience, and consultation to the ACT team to promote a culture of recovery and wellness.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of clinical records in accordance with Federal, State, and County requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience and Training: A self-identified person with mental health experience, preferably in recovery from an addiction disorder, and completion of a Mental Health approved peer support training program within six months of hire.
  • Special Requirements: Must possess a current driver's license and an acceptable driving history, and be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
