POSITION OVERVIEW

We invite you to become a part of our team as a Structural Project Engineer.

This is a hybrid role based out of our office. The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay.

We are looking for a motivated engineering professional with 5 to 10 years of civil/structural engineering experience. The role involves working independently and collaboratively within a diverse team of multi-discipline engineers and architects to address challenges and execute projects for industrial and manufacturing clients. Typical civil/structural projects encompass the layout, engineering design, and inspection of steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundations for buildings, process structures, access platforms, mechanical equipment, conveyors, and piping. A strong understanding of building and structural design codes is essential. The level of responsibility will be commensurate with current skill sets and the ability to demonstrate competence in completing assignments, leading projects, and mentoring junior engineers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adhere to safety protocols at all times, including compliance with federal, state, and local safety standards, as well as those established by Matrix and clients.
  • Work under the guidance of a professional engineer to complete engineering designs in accordance with accepted practices and company standards.
  • If registered as a professional engineer, oversee other engineers and designers to ensure engineering designs meet accepted practices and company standards.
  • Learn and utilize engineering design software for structural analysis and 3D modeling.
  • Assist in and lead the creation of engineering contract documents, including 3D models, drawings, details, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Gather field data through hand measurements, surveying, and 3D scanning.
  • Contribute as a team member, offering ideas and solutions.
  • Prepare project correspondence as necessary.
  • Maintain positive client relationships on assigned projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five to ten years of experience as a Structural Project Engineer or equivalent.
  • Four-year ABET-accredited Bachelor's of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred).
  • EIT required; PE preferred.
  • Proficiency in structural drafting using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Experience guiding others in the design of structures and foundations for buildings and equipment using engineering design software such as Risa or RAM Structural Systems.
  • Experience guiding others using 3D modeling software such as Bentley ProStructures or Revit.
  • Experience in 3D scanning, surveying, or construction cost estimating is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Ability to manage multiple project assignments independently.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and team members.
  • Experience in chemical, refining, manufacturing, or food industries is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • This employee may perform industrial field work, which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.
  • This employee may perform industrial field work, which could include exposure to a wide range of known food allergens.
