Job Summary:

KBR is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and technicians in the design, development, and deployment of complex systems for the Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging (SGSLR) Program at the Goddard Space Flight Center.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership for the SGSLR hardware team, ensuring successful execution of tasks and delivery of high-quality results.
  • Manage and supervise engineering supervisors, team leads, and engineering subordinates, providing guidance and support to ensure team success.
  • Interface with peer managers to bring the best engineering support to assigned tasks and offer cost-effective, value-added solutions.
  • Establish relationships and communication lines with an international group of engineers and scientists for technology discussions and innovation exchange.
  • Oversee industrial safety and laser safety protocols.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of directly related experience, or 23+ years of experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience in component, subsystem, system, integration, and deployment efforts.
  • Increasing leadership responsibility, including extensive project management experience and proven ability to manage multidisciplined engineering teams.
  • Basic understanding of Electrical, Optical, Mechanical, Laser, Structural, and Facilities engineering disciplines.
  • Understanding of GSFC working environment and ability to establish relationships with GSFC customers.
  • Experience managing in an IDIQ contract environment requiring flexible staffing and resource planning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels, internal/external, technical/non-technical.
  • Demonstrated HR skills in coaching and developing supervisors, team leads, and seasoned technical professionals.
  • Background in satellite laser ranging technology desirable.
