Position Overview

Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Semiconductor Fabrication Engineer to join our team. This role focuses on providing essential fabrication support for advanced x-ray detector technologies that are pivotal for future scientific instruments in space exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute the deposition and patterning of metallic or superconducting thin films utilizing various techniques such as sputtering, e-beam evaporation, and photolithography.
  • Conduct thermal oxidation and annealing processes using specialized furnaces and ovens.
  • Perform deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) or reactive ion etching (RIE) on silicon substrates.
  • Utilize metrology tools and imaging systems, including profilometers and scanning electron microscopes (SEM), to assess completed or in-process devices.
  • Maintain a clean room environment by adhering to best practices and protocols.
  • Exhibit meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precise adherence to process instructions and thorough inspection of results.
  • Communicate effectively, providing clear documentation and updates on fabrication processes to team members during meetings and through written reports.
  • Demonstrate initiative by working independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with team members to optimize wafer processing and equipment usage.
  • Manage project timelines efficiently to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in materials science, physics, or a related engineering discipline, accompanied by 7 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven track record as a Semiconductor Fabrication Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in materials science, physics, or a related engineering field.
