Job Overview:

The EDI Analyst/Programmer I is tasked with the critical role of evaluating requirements, conducting tests, and managing various Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. This position involves daily EDI operational functions in alignment with contractual obligations, joint interface plan (JIP) specifications, and HIPAA EDI transaction processing standards. The individual will act as a technical authority on all aspects of EDI transaction processing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate closely with the Director of Information Systems (IS) and the EDI team to ensure timely completion of EDI interface tasks according to organizational or contractual needs.
2. Participate actively in projects of varying complexities, including the implementation of HIPAA transaction sets and other custom interfaces as per JIP requirements.

2. Comprehensive technical knowledge encompassing client/server technology, LAN communications, and diverse hardware, software, and operating systems.
3. Strong business and systems analysis capabilities.
4. Proficient in documentation and design processes.
5. Creative problem-solving skills and robust analytical thinking.
6. Capacity to manage high-pressure situations and multiple responsibilities in a support capacity.
7. Consultative approach when working with individuals from various disciplines and technical backgrounds.
8. Self-driven, analytical, and goal-oriented with a knack for troubleshooting.
9. Competence in drafting specifications and requirements.
10. Familiarity with relational database structures, project management, development methodologies, and programming within a client-server environment.

Required Experience:

Work Experience
A minimum of three years in managed care applications, including at least two years of experience with SQL, creation of DTS packages, Stored Procedures, and current Microsoft Windows platforms, as well as Visual Basic and Microsoft Access. Demonstrated experience in processing batch interface files and knowledge of HIPAA transaction code sets is essential. Proficiency with EDI interface engine tools for troubleshooting, development, and processing of files and datasets is required. Experience in evaluating technology is also beneficial.

Education and Training:

A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field is mandatory.
