Position Overview:
The EDI Analyst/Programmer I is tasked with the critical role of assessing requirements, conducting tests, and managing various Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions. This position involves the daily execution of EDI operational functions, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, joint interface plan (JIP) specifications, and HIPAA EDI transaction processing mandates. The individual will act as a technical authority on all aspects of EDI transaction processing.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate closely with the Director of Information Systems and the EDI team to ensure timely completion of EDI interface projects in alignment with organizational or contractual needs.
2. Engage in projects of varying complexity, including the implementation of HIPAA transaction sets and custom interfaces as outlined in JIP.
Essential Skills:
1. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
2. Comprehensive technical knowledge encompassing client/server technology, LAN communications, and diverse hardware, software, and operating systems.
3. Strong analytical and business system analysis capabilities.
4. Expertise in documentation and design processes.
5. Proficient in creative problem-solving and analytical thinking.
6. Capacity to manage high-pressure situations and multiple responsibilities in a support capacity.
7. Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from various technical backgrounds and disciplines.
8. Self-driven, analytical, and results-oriented with a knack for troubleshooting.
9. Competence in drafting specifications and requirements.
10. Familiarity with relational database schemas, project management principles, development methodologies, and programming in a client-server environment.
Experience Requirements:
Work Experience
Minimum of three years in managed care applications, with at least two years focused on SQL, creation of DTS packages, Stored Procedures, and experience with current Microsoft Windows platforms, Visual Basic, and Microsoft Access. Demonstrated experience in processing batch interface files and knowledge of HIPAA transaction code sets is essential. Proficiency with EDI interface engine tools for troubleshooting, development, and processing of files and datasets is required. Experience in evaluating technology is preferred, with familiarity in HMO claim systems being advantageous.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field is mandatory.
