Wastewater Management Technician

The Wastewater Management Technician is responsible for overseeing the treatment and processing of wastewater and bio-solids. While prior experience or education in wastewater management is advantageous, it is not mandatory. The selected individual will engage in a comprehensive training program lasting up to twelve months, covering various shifts to gain expertise in operational processes under diverse conditions.
This role encompasses a range of responsibilities to ensure compliance with State and Federal discharge regulations, including:
- Analyzing data from laboratory and on-site assessments,
- Utilizing SCADA systems to formulate and execute appropriate responses to alarms at treatment facilities and lift stations,
- Maintaining accurate records and logs while interpreting data according to established protocols,
- Conducting preventive maintenance tasks,
The position necessitates the ability to obtain a Class IV Illinois Wastewater Treatment Operator certification. Additionally, candidates must be capable of operating heavy machinery, proficiently using computers for data entry, retrieval, management, and interpretation, as well as demonstrating effective communication skills and teamwork. A valid driving record and eligibility for coverage under District vehicle insurance are essential. The role requires physical capabilities such as climbing ladders and stairs, traversing the facilities in varying weather conditions, and possessing sufficient visual and auditory acuity to communicate effectively and respond to alarms or warnings.
