Position Overview:
The Nutritional Services Technician plays a vital role in the Food Service division, ensuring the efficient operation of the dietary office. This position involves functioning as a Dining Service operator, contributing to the overall patient and guest experience.
Qualifications:
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
No specific educational requirements.
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
Food Handler Certification is mandatory within 30 days of employment.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in Food Services is preferred.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
A solid understanding of nutrition and modified diets is advantageous. Candidates should possess the ability to comprehend written instructions, demonstrate numerical proficiency, and collaborate effectively with team members. Strong communication skills and basic computer literacy are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responds to phone inquiries in alignment with customer service standards and directs calls appropriately.
- Processes food orders for patients and guests using the Dining Service computer system.
- Manages diet modifications through the order entry system.
- Collects, records, and computes calorie counts, including weekend charting.
- Calculates and records costs for food-to-floor orders in the computer program.
- Handles physician lunch orders efficiently.
- Maintains the nourishment cardex and places orders through the dining program.
- Completes monthly reports for the dietary office.
- Communicates patient census information to the kitchen and Rehab Unit.
- Assists in the training of new dietary technicians.
- Delivers patient and guest trays, including grievance trays, and supports trayline operations as needed.
