Position Overview

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing essential laboratory tests and analyses necessary for evaluating wastewater to ensure adherence to environmental regulations, including those set by the IEPA and USEPA. A Bachelor's Degree in fields such as chemistry, biology, or environmental sciences is highly desirable. Alternatively, candidates with an Associate's Degree in these disciplines, coupled with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in wastewater management or analytical laboratories, may also be considered.

This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, including:

  • Executing chemical and microbiological assessments in accordance with established protocols and procedures,
  • Managing, calibrating, and servicing various laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometers, dissolved oxygen meters, pH meters, and wastewater sampling devices,
  • Responding to emergency situations to gather necessary samples during adverse weather conditions.

The position requires a clean driving record and the ability to qualify for vehicle insurance coverage. Additionally, candidates must be capable of climbing ladders and stairs, navigating the facility in various weather conditions, and possessing adequate visual and auditory skills to communicate effectively and respond to alarms.
