Compensation: $53-55/hr

Interview Process: Initial phone interview followed by an in-person facility interview.


The Correctional Registered Nurse collaborates with healthcare professionals, correctional officers, and administrative staff to promote the health and safety of the incarcerated individuals.

This role requires utilizing nursing expertise to navigate the unique challenges of the correctional setting while delivering comprehensive care to patients.

This includes both routine and urgent medical care within a correctional facility environment.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Employ the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

2. Conduct focused interviews to determine specific patient needs.

3. Recognize signs and symptoms indicating physiological and psychosocial changes in patients.

4. Gather health histories from newly admitted inmates.

5. Refer inmates to physicians, nurse practitioners, dentists, or mental health professionals as necessary.

6. Assess the need for emergency hospital care and ensure medication is administered per standard operating procedures and orders.

7. Collect, analyze, and interpret data from healthcare team members, documenting nursing diagnoses.

8. Document the patient's care plan using identified nursing diagnoses, expected outcomes, and selected interventions.

9. Prioritize actions based on patient care requirements.

10. Monitor alignment between patient care plans and medical staff actions.

11. Execute interventions according to established priorities, care plans, and hospital policies.

12. Initiate and assess patient education efforts.

13. Revise care plans based on evaluations and changes in medical plans.

14. Document patient responses to nursing and other interventions.

15. Supervise, train, and guide other healthcare professionals on-site, such as LPNs and CNAs.

16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Valid Registered Nurse License for the state of practice.

2. Preferred minimum of one year of experience in correctional healthcare.

3. Adherence to all relevant professional standards of practice.

4. Completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable.

5. Current CPR certification if applicable.

6. TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.

7. Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.

8. Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.

9. Successful completion of new hire training as required.

10. Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.

11. Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.

12. Computer proficiency required.

13. Must be at least 18 years of age.
