Role Overview:
To realize our vision of providing the best payment solutions universally, the Operations & Infrastructure (O&I) division must deliver top-tier infrastructure services that are secure, scalable, and perpetually available, leveraging software-defined infrastructures.

The O&I division presents an exciting opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies during a period of significant industry innovation, particularly in cloud computing.

The Middleware Engineering & Operations team is responsible for comprehensive design, construction, and support services for Web and Middle-tier platforms, categorized under PaaS (Platform as a Service).

The selected candidate will collaborate with other Middleware Systems engineers and technical personnel to design, construct, support, and enhance both internal and external platforms built on various Middleware and Integration technologies.

We seek a forward-thinking and capable Senior Systems Engineer / DevOps professional to join the Middleware Engineering team, which is part of Global Service Engineering. This role is crucial for maintaining the common middleware and integration infrastructure that facilitates communication among multiple enterprise applications and business lines.

Key Responsibilities:
- Development, configuration, problem analysis, deployment, and continuous operational enhancement of middleware technologies utilized at Visa.
- Collaborate with Global systems, Global Operations, Cybersource, Authorize.Net, and external integration partners to implement solutions using current or proposed middleware technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
  • Preferred: 3 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or over 2 years with an Advanced Degree.
  • Proficient understanding of web & App tier technology products, including but not limited to Tomcat, Apache Proxy, Nginx, and messaging platforms like IBMMQ and Kafka.
  • Solid knowledge of security technologies, including SSL/TLS and PKI, OpenSSL, and SSH.
  • Experience in scripting with languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues and solve complex problems.
  • Strong understanding of UNIX/Linux, databases, networking, storage technologies, load balancers, firewalls, SAN, DNS, and LDAP.
  • Basic knowledge of Micro Container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift) and programming in Java, J2EE.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef or Ansible, and DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Ability to coordinate with globally distributed teams and provide occasional 24x7 support.
  • Knowledge of Fraud Management, Payment, and/or Credit Card processing is advantageous.

This position may require travel 5-10% of the time.
