Role Overview:

The Middleware Engineering & Operations team is responsible for comprehensive design, construction, and support services for Web and Middle-tier platforms under the PaaS (Platform as a Service) model.

The selected candidate will collaborate with fellow Middleware Systems engineers and technical team members to architect, develop, support, and enhance platforms that utilize various Middleware and Integration technologies.

We seek an innovative and skilled Senior Systems Engineer / DevOps professional to join the Middleware Engineering team, which is integral to Global Service Engineering, managing shared middleware and integration infrastructure that facilitates communication across numerous enterprise applications and business sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
This position entails development, configuration, problem-solving, deployment, and ongoing operational enhancement of middleware technologies employed at Visa. Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with Global systems, Global Operations, Cybersource, Authorize.Net, and external integration partners to implement solutions utilizing current or proposed middleware technologies.
  • Possessing a solid foundational understanding of web/App tier technologies (e.g., Tomcat, JAVA, Httpd) and implementing security measures (SSL/PKI) while adhering to compliance standards.

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree or over 2 years of experience with an Advanced Degree.
  • Proficient understanding of web & App tier technology products, including but not limited to Tomcat, Apache Proxy, Nginx, and messaging platforms like IBMMQ and Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of security technologies, including SSL/TLS, PKI, OpenSSL, and SSH.
  • Experience in scripting with languages such as Python, Ruby, or Bash.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues and engage in problem-solving.
  • Solid understanding of UNIX/Linux, databases, networking, and storage technologies, including load balancers, firewalls, SAN, DNS, and LDAP.
  • Basic familiarity with Micro Container technologies (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift) and programming in Java, J2EE.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Chef or Ansible, as well as DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Ability to coordinate with globally distributed teams and provide occasional 24x7 support.
  • Knowledge of fraud management, payment processing, and/or credit card systems is advantageous.
