Lead Android System Software Architect

Position Overview

This pivotal role within our global system software division focuses on the Android operating system and mobile technology products. The selected architect will spearhead strategic advancements in system software and next-generation offerings. Collaborating closely with engineering leaders and product managers, the architect will be tasked with proposing and designing the overarching system architecture for our flagship products aimed at market leadership. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise and enthusiasm for the Android platform stack, encompassing software systems and hardware interactions, along with exceptional soft skills in technology insight, system abstraction, and technical communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and propose strategic advancements for the system software stack and ecosystem development.
  • Design and lead the high-level system architecture for next-generation Android and mobile devices.
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders and product managers to translate market needs into actionable product roadmaps and solutions.
  • Conduct in-depth technical analyses and trend studies within the mobile product and system software sectors.
  • Assess and innovate new technologies and designs to enhance the user experience of end products.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in architecting Android-based products with a successful track record.
  • Senior-level expertise in the Android system software stack, covering applications, frameworks, kernels, drivers, and firmware.
  • Comprehensive understanding of use cases and user experiences related to consumer products.
  • Extensive experience leading cross-geographical teams in a multicultural and multinational context.
  • Strong soft skills in technology insight, system abstraction, and technical communication.
  • Passionate about advancing new technologies and making a significant impact in the industry.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, professional, and a collaborative team player.

Requirements

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related fields preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in the Android platform, system software, and smart devices.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a system architect for products utilizing the Android platform.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities.

Compensation: $180,000 - $250,000

Employees may qualify for performance bonuses and various incentive programs. Actual total compensation will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications. Additionally, MediaTek offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), parental leave, 401K, and more.
