Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Purchasing Specialist to join our team at Johnstone Supply. As a key member of our purchasing department, you will be responsible for managing our inventory and ensuring that our customers receive the products they need in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze replenishment reports and produce vendor purchase orders to ensure that our inventory levels are maintained at optimal levels.
  • Examine and process warehouse transfers to ensure that our inventory is accurately reflected in our system.
  • Review needs analysis daily to replenish critical items and prevent stockouts.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory ordering controls by reviewing forecasts, monthly reports, and vendor lead-time reports.
  • Monitor price changes and special buy opportunities to ensure that we are getting the best possible prices for our customers.
  • Review and process pre-season and tradeshow orders as required.
  • Perform manual inventory adjustments, including scrapping of product, to ensure that our inventory is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Make recommendations on slow-moving items to improve inventory turnover and reduce waste.
  • Assist all departments and branches with inventory-related issues to ensure that our customers receive the best possible service.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of experience in a replenishment buyer role.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Proficient in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, requesting clarification when needed.
  • A positive approach and willingness to learn, coupled with the ability to work in a team environment.
