CLINICAL PHARMACIST

POSITION OVERVIEW

Ideal candidate will reside in Tennessee.

This position is currently remote, but candidates must be located within a reasonable distance to the corporate offices.

Consideration will also be given to candidates in Whitestown, IN.

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for interpreting medical prescriptions, liaising with healthcare providers and patients to confirm prescription details, and ensuring the efficient processing of medication orders. This role includes compounding and dispensing pharmaceuticals in compliance with corporate and regulatory standards. The Clinical Pharmacist will monitor order statuses, address outstanding issues, and provide consultation to patients regarding medication usage and potential interactions. This individual may handle inquiries from customers about lost orders or dispensing mistakes, maintain daily production and quality metrics, and adjust work priorities to meet business demands. Additionally, the Clinical Pharmacist may mentor less experienced pharmacists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and ensure quality control for pharmacy technicians.
  • Interpret prescriptions from healthcare providers.
  • Communicate with physicians and/or patients to verify prescription details such as dosage, instructions, and medication name to facilitate order processing.
  • Confirm the legitimacy of controlled substances.
  • Validate prescription information entered into the system by data entry or order entry.
  • Coordinate with physicians for new or transfer authorizations.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers to switch prescriptions to generic or preferred alternatives when feasible.
  • Advise patients on medication use and possible drug interactions.
  • Support other pharmacists as needed, undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management, or provide training to junior pharmacists.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to collaborate with other departments to resolve issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret prescriptions accurately.
  • Commitment to customer service, quality, and precision.
  • Capability to manage timelines and meet strict deadlines.
  • Flexibility to adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule during peak periods.

If working remotely, candidates must have a reliable internet connection through a cable broadband or fiber optic service provider with a minimum speed of 10Mbps download and 5Mbps upload.
