Position Overview
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated Nursing Supervisor for our Oncology Services department. This role is vital in overseeing a busy outpatient oncology service that operates throughout the week.

Our multidisciplinary team includes experts in surgical, medical, and radiation oncology.

We are looking for a proactive Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities to guide our team of nurses and support staff.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the oncology team to prioritize and streamline tasks for optimal workflow.
  • Deliver specialized nursing care to oncology patients while working closely with clinicians, nurses, and students.
  • Coordinate with various hospital services to ensure smooth patient transitions throughout the day.
  • Facilitate communication with ward and ICU nurses regarding oncology patients requiring specialized care.
  • Manage the transportation of patients within the hospital as necessary.
  • Organize and maintain oncology patient records efficiently.
  • Educate veterinary and nursing students on oncological treatments and safety protocols.
  • Work in conjunction with nursing staff to ensure compliance with ongoing clinical trials.

Supervisory Duties:
  • Actively supervise nursing staff while balancing administrative responsibilities.
  • Develop and manage nursing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Provide orientation and training for new staff members.
  • Encourage professional development and career advancement for team members.
  • Address performance-related issues promptly and conduct regular performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance patient care and service quality.
  • Work with oncology clinicians to establish and maintain operational policies and safety protocols.

Qualifications:
A minimum of five years of clinical experience as a CVT is required, with a preference for candidates with oncology experience. Certification as a Veterinary Technician or eligibility for certification is mandatory.
