Position Overview:

The Horticultural Operations Supervisor at The Club at Kukui`ula is responsible for managing the daily functions of the Landscape and Farm departments, reporting directly to the Director of Landscape & Farm Operations. This role involves strategizing, overseeing, and directing teams, including external contractors, in landscape upkeep, conservation, restoration, and development. The supervisor collaborates with the Director to create care plans, manage budgets, establish schedules, and ensure comprehensive property maintenance. They also liaise with various departments such as Food & Beverage, Club Services, Engineering, and Golf Maintenance, while spearheading special projects and training initiatives for staff development.

Qualifications:
  • Extensive knowledge of horticulture, grounds upkeep, and landscape development.
  • Expertise in proper pruning methods, arboriculture, turf management, soil science, and plant care.
  • Familiarity with native, endemic, and invasive plant species of Hawaii.
  • Understanding of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) regulations.
  • Knowledge of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) specific to Hawaii.
  • Awareness of Worker Protection Standard (WPS) in agriculture.
  • Experience in the operation and design of irrigation systems.
  • Physical capability to lift 55 pounds regularly and perform demanding outdoor labor.
  • Proficient in using small power tools, large machinery (mowers, tractors, etc.), and hand tools.
  • Strong multitasking skills and adaptability to changing work environments.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Natural leadership skills and the ability to foster relationships with colleagues, visitors, and vendors.
  • Preferred certifications as a pesticide technician and training in the use of small and heavy equipment.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a management or leadership role related to landscaping.
  • Experience with local landscape industry councils.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain positive relationships with teams, members, guests, and clients.
Computer Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment (telephones, computers, smartphones, etc.).
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Certifications such as Certified Arborist, Certified Landscape Technician, and Certified WPS Trainer are advantageous.
Salary Range: $75,000 USD - $90,000 USD per year
