Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a talented Financial Planning Analyst to enhance their financial management team. In this role, you will oversee a budget that exceeds $400 million, collaborating closely with various departments to ensure fiscal responsibility and strategic planning. Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, you will be integral to significant budgetary initiatives, annual budget formulation, and comprehensive trend assessments.

  • Engage with the Dean's Office, Associate Deans, and Department Managers on financial matters.
  • Deliver analytical insights for budget-related projects and financial documentation.
  • Contribute to the creation of annual budgets, financial evaluations, forecasting, and additional financial undertakings.
  • Examine historical, current, and prospective trends to forecast financial outcomes.
  • Assess existing processes and systems, propose enhancements, and resolve budgetary challenges.
Minimum Requirements

Education: A Bachelor's degree is required.

Experience: Financial Planning Analyst: 2 years of relevant experience. Senior Financial Planning Analyst: 4 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with intermediate Excel capabilities.
  • Experience in data analytics and budget management systems within the public sector.
  • Ability to generate reports, utilize database systems, and streamline spreadsheet processes.

This position offers flexibility with options for remote, hybrid, or in-person work arrangements. It is classified as an Exempt level role with associated benefits.
