Overview

This role reports directly to the Regional Safety Director and is pivotal in fostering a proactive and collaborative environment that champions a culture of health and safety excellence.

The Regional Safety Advisor will offer support to General Managers, Plant Managers, and Plant Safety Coordinators by providing leadership in safety culture, reliable technical guidance, and timely decision-making. This position ensures that safety programs are effectively implemented and maintained with a focus on quality. Collaborating with fellow safety professionals, this leader will employ innovative strategies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and guide the development of a top-tier safety culture at designated sites. Cultivate an environment that seamlessly integrates safety into daily operations; aim to minimize both the frequency and severity of workplace injuries while reducing costs to enhance productivity and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations. With the backing of the Regional Safety Director and Operations Leadership, ensure that all health and safety processes at the site are well-established and regularly assessed.

• Act as a resource for management during the rollout and execution of standardized safety programs. Oversee the implementation of site-specific occupational health initiatives, including but not limited to: Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout/Tryout), Confined Space Entry, Machine Safety/Guarding, Emergency Preparedness, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Fall Protection & Prevention, Ergonomics, and Electrical Safety.

• Engage with the site workforce, fostering relationships and providing safety expertise and coaching; it is anticipated that over 75% of the time will be spent visiting various locations within the region.

• Conduct thorough inspections and audits at sites to identify existing or potential hazards and recommend corrective or preventive measures. Provide detailed reports to the Regional Safety Director.

• In a constructive manner, coach teams and individuals in real-time when opportunities to address at-risk behaviors arise. Equally important is the recognition and reinforcement of those adhering to safety standards.

• Coordinate the incident investigation process with site locations and the Regional Safety Director, ensuring that root cause analyses are conducted and that preventive and corrective actions are documented and effectively implemented to avert future incidents or injuries.

• Assist locations in delivering necessary safety and compliance training to all personnel to ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.

• Monitor safety trends and data, providing relevant feedback and solutions to the Regional Safety Director to promote ongoing improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

• A minimum of 3 years of safety experience alongside an Associate's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, OR, in lieu of a degree, at least 5 years of specific Occupational Health and Safety experience in a manufacturing context. Comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal and state health and safety regulations is essential.

• Demonstrates integrity, critical decision-making abilities, effective prioritization, reliability, and a commitment to serving others. Capable of partnering with and influencing site leadership to support injury and incident reduction and ensure regulatory compliance.

• Exhibits strong interpersonal skills; must excel in team environments and cultivate relationships across various management levels.

• Highly organized with exceptional time management capabilities. Proven track record of multitasking and completing projects punctually.

• Technical proficiency and demonstrated knowledge in high-risk environments.

• Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Strong data management and analytical abilities.

• Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation and/or other relevant technical certifications.
