Position Overview

The role involves the collection and meticulous entry of patient demographic data to facilitate the registration, scheduling, and check-in/check-out processes for patients at the health care facilities.

About the Organization

The Health Care District of Palm Beach County operates multiple Federally Qualified Health Centers that cater to both insured and uninsured individuals, ensuring access to essential health services irrespective of financial capability.

Our organization also manages mobile clinics that deliver medical assistance to underserved populations, including the homeless.

In our commitment to quality care, we provide comprehensive health services encompassing medical, dental, behavioral health, psychiatric care, women's health, pharmacy services, outpatient substance use disorder treatment, and community resource programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately gathers and inputs patient demographic information into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system, ensuring proficient patient registration.
  • Secures necessary signatures for patient consent forms.
  • Schedules patient appointments in the EHR, including managing rescheduling for no-show patients.
  • Confirms patients' insurance benefits, including identifying primary care providers for managed care plans.
  • Ensures timely scanning of all relevant patient information into the EHR, including photo identification and insurance cards.
  • Collects co-pays, coinsurance, and any outstanding balances from patients or their guarantors at the time of service.
  • Conducts daily reconciliation of cash and credit collections.
  • Performs self-audits of cash drawers on a daily basis.
  • Engages with patients through a pre-visit, pre-registration communication platform utilizing text messaging.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and adheres to all established policies and procedures.
  • Responds to emergency codes as required by departmental protocols.
  • Follows all infection control measures consistently.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with established guidelines.
  • May be required to assist with emergency duties, including responses to community or hospital-based organizations.
Qualifications

Education: A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.

Experience: A minimum of one to two years of experience in a registration role within a healthcare or medical environment is preferred.

Certification: Certification as a Patient Access Associate is advantageous.

Licensure: A valid driver's license is required.
