Job Overview

Patient Service Representative (Front Office) @ VitalSkin Dermatology

As a full-time, on-site Patient Service Representative, your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional patient experiences and customer service. This includes managing prior authorizations, scheduling patient appointments, conducting eligibility checks, verifying appointment details, and registering new patients. You will assist patients in completing necessary forms and consents, gather and confirm current insurance or financial information, and handle all co-payments and related transactions. Additionally, you will update patient demographic information in our practice management system and manage appointment scheduling according to established guidelines.

Qualifications

You are a dedicated customer service professional with a strong administrative background, characterized by attention to detail and a proactive approach. A minimum of two years of experience in a medical office or healthcare environment is required. You should possess familiarity with third-party payer systems, including Medicare and Medicaid, alongside excellent communication skills. Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and medical office management software, is essential. Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings is also necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients upon arrival, ensuring a superior service experience.
  • Process necessary authorizations as required by insurance providers prior to patient consultations.
  • Schedule appointments and verify eligibility as needed.
  • Correct any eligibility discrepancies before patient consultations.
  • Register new patients and assist them in completing required documentation.
  • Collect and verify insurance and financial information.
  • Record all payments and manage cash transactions accurately.
  • Maintain up-to-date patient records in the practice management system.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments in accordance with scheduling protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding patient service-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality and records management policies.
  • Utilize office equipment for administrative tasks.
  • Perform end-of-day reconciliation and reporting as assigned.
  • Manage automated appointment reminders and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the reception area.
