As part of the Amazon Worldwide Fulfillment Design & Engineering Team, we are in search of a remarkable Senior Reliability Engineering Leader. This role is ideal for individuals who are eager to tackle intricate real-world challenges that require a thorough scientific methodology to develop effective solutions.

Your responsibilities will encompass identifying and alleviating reliability risks, leading to the design and execution of safe and dependable fulfillment center infrastructures.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilizing a Failure-based methodology to create and apply both analytical and empirical techniques for recognizing and assessing reliability risks during facility design, material handling equipment selection, and implementation.

  2. Reviewing, advising, and supporting facility design teams through the use of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), predictive modeling strategies, and testing protocols.

  3. Overseeing component, subassembly, subsystem, and system qualification as well as life testing programs.

  4. Leading Design for Reliability (DfR) initiatives in collaboration with design teams.

  5. Identifying deficiencies in existing reliability standards and guidelines, and spearheading comprehensive research to redefine "industry best practices" grounded in solid scientific principles.

  6. Continuously enhancing your expertise in your field while also exploring intersecting domains such as robotics and mechatronics.

  7. Traveling to various sites to conduct thorough evaluations and gather in-depth operational insights, approximately 25%-50% of the time.

  8. Maintaining regular communication with executive management regarding project status, risks, and operational metrics.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Automotive, Industrial, or High-Tech hardware Reliability Engineering roles.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • Proficient knowledge of reliability prediction software such as Weibull ++.
  • 7+ years in Reliability Engineering within High-Tech, Industrial, or Automotive sectors.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, mechanical, and electrical reliability testing for consumer electronics.
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Broad range of failure analysis capabilities including SEM, EDX, dye and pry, cross-sectioning, and x-ray.
  • Exceptional communication skills for articulating escalations to higher management.
  • Significant experience in designing reliability test plans and overseeing their execution.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Reliability Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Design, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering within Automotive, Industrial, or High-Tech industries.
  • Proven track record in developing new testing standards in complex product development settings.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various US geographic areas. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,500/year in our lowest geographic market to $244,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is influenced by several factors including market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign-on bonuses, and other forms of compensation may be included as part of a comprehensive compensation package, alongside a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
