The American Girl retail store in New York City is seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Merchandise Handler. This role is essential for supporting our Back of House operations, which includes tasks such as unloading and loading trailers, maintaining inventory levels on the sales floor, organizing storage areas for optimal efficiency, and ensuring that necessary supplies are readily available.
Key Responsibilities:- Efficiently process incoming inventory shipments while adhering to safety protocols. Uphold stockroom standards regarding merchandise organization, cleanliness, and safety.
- Prepare and load trailers with returned merchandise, including returns, rework items, and doll hospital products.
- Maintain merchandise levels on the retail sales floor, responding to special requests from retail partners. Continuously monitor stock levels and replenish as needed while following visual merchandising standards.
- Assist in the overall execution of retail operations, which may include floor moves, equipment upkeep, and collaborating with other team members to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff. Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Exhibit flexibility in prioritizing tasks to align with business needs.
- Preferred experience of 6 months to 1 year in retail or service industries, particularly in material handling, shipping, receiving, or warehouse stock management.
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Must possess a friendly demeanor, be approachable, and demonstrate a willingness to assist guests respectfully, especially children.
- Availability to work during opening and closing shifts, including weekends and holidays.
The hourly wage for this position is set at $19.00, which is determined based on the candidate's education, skills, and experience.
