About Us

Hmong American Farmers Association (HAFA) is a social justice organization committed to advancing the economic, social, and cultural prosperity of Hmong American farmers through advocacy, economic development, capacity building, and research.

We use an organizing approach to work with our members and other farmers in the Hmong community to access land, equipment, capital, and trainings that improve their farming operations and help lift their families out of poverty.

As a member-based organization, HAFA was started by and is led by Hmong American farmers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Executive Director's schedule, including arranging meetings, travel, and appointments
  • Provide administrative scheduling and meeting support, maintaining the Executive Director's electronic calendar through Microsoft Outlook
  • Ensure the Executive Director has necessary materials for each appointment
  • Attend key meetings and take notes as requested
  • Coordinate media requests, PR, and speaking gigs
  • Assist the Executive Director with various administrative tasks
  • Schedule staff meetings and take notes
  • Manage all activities related to office maintenance, including Internet and tech support, printer assistance, and more
  • Screen and direct phone and general email inquiries
  • Order office supplies and inventory key items
  • Manage monthly subscriptions, services, and orders for both the HAFA Office and the HAFA Farm
  • Mailing, scanning, filing, and photocopying important documents
  • Day-to-day administration and coordination of all areas of administrative support to the HAFA team
  • Arrange travel, itinerary planning & logistics for staff
  • Organize staff meetings, offsite events, team dinners, and social events
  • Collect and copy receipts, and other reporting and tracking activities
  • Post and manage HAFA job openings and postings
  • Occasionally assist in onboarding new staff

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; 1-2 years of similar work experience preferred
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen attention to detail and time management
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Interest and experience interacting with the Hmong community
  • Enthusiastic and self-directed with an ability to take direction
  • A 'can-do' attitude and willingness to pitch in where needed
  • The ability to work under high-pressure and fast-paced environments
  • Multitasking with ease
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ASANA, MyDropBox, Google Forms, Slack, and other office applications

Estimated Salary: $55,000 per year
