Role Overview:

The Case Manager plays a crucial role in delivering case management and supportive services to unaccompanied immigrant children who have been released from federal custody.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct home visits and phone assessments to evaluate the safety and suitability of a child's placement with their caregiver (sponsor) while connecting them to community services to mitigate risk factors.
  • Provide ongoing case management focused on identifying and referring children to necessary services in areas such as placement, safety, education, health, mental health, legal/immigration matters, substance abuse, independent living, and enrichment activities.
  • Deliver crisis intervention services directly or facilitate connections to ensure the minor's safety and well-being during emergencies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation in accordance with LIRS policies and procedures.
  • Employ best practices in social work to conduct thorough assessments of the child's progress and the effectiveness of services provided.
  • Ensure consistent and timely communication with supervisors regarding any concerns related to the child's safety, stability, or well-being.
  • Engage in regular supervision and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Participation in all required organizational training sessions.
  • Attendance at departmental and program meetings to stay informed about policy changes and best practices.
  • Engagement in professional development training relevant to case management and documentation.
  • Willingness to travel for training, conferences, or to transport youth as needed.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Assistance to the Program Manager with internal audits and special projects.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to pass an FBI background check and a CA/N check for all states of residence in the past five years.
  • Willingness to travel to various counties as required, potentially up to 70% of the time.
  • Capability to sit and stand for extended periods while utilizing a telephone, computer, and other office equipment.
  • Adequate stamina to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, human services, or a related social services field.

Experience:
  • Prior experience in child welfare and/or case management is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with refugee or immigrant children is ideal.
  • Cross-cultural or international experience is advantageous.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel).
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license and eligibility to drive as required by program services.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate program needs.
  • Knowledge of community resources and the ability to connect families with necessary services.
  • Strong clinical and crisis intervention capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and assessment skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory.
