Sterile Processing Technician Patewood Evening

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at Patewood Memorial Hospital. As a key member of our Central Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by preparing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives, sorts, and processes contaminated instruments and equipment using established procedures and guidelines.
- Assembles instrument sets following prescribed procedures and documents missing items.
- Sterilizes instruments, equipment, and supplies using various types of autoclaves and aerators.
- Documents all activities related to instrument/equipment decontamination, assembly, disinfection, and sterilization in the Instrument Tracking System.
- Observes and interprets biological, mechanical, and chemical monitors relevant to processing/sterilizing.
- Issues items to customers and departments according to established procedures.
- Reports equipment requiring repair and intervenes with corrections to variances in processing practice.
Requirements
Job-related coursework in Surgical Tech, Sterile Processing Tech, or Dental Assistant training program. No experience is required, but certification as a CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician) is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a non-management role that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The work environment is a hospital setting with a focus on patient care and safety.
