Role Description:

Emory Medical Laboratory is dedicated to advancing health and healing by delivering high-quality, innovative laboratory services that improve patient outcomes. We are looking for a skilled Clinical Laboratory Specialist II with expertise in Core Laboratory disciplines.

Work Schedule: 7am - 5:30pm, Saturday - Sunday, every other weekend

  • Conducts standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, microbiological, and serological analyses in a clinical or research laboratory setting.
  • Provides mentorship to junior technologists and participates in administrative functions, staff education, research, and safety protocols.
  • Facilitates training for staff and students by demonstrating laboratory procedures and assisting in orientation and ongoing education.
  • Assesses the accuracy of test results; compares with historical data and other laboratory findings; in complex scenarios, determines whether results should be released, repeated, or referred to a pathologist.
  • May perform blood collection procedures, including venipuncture or capillary puncture.
  • Undertakes additional related responsibilities as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or a related scientific field.
  • Alternative bachelor's degrees may be considered if the candidate has graduated from an accredited medical technology program or meets the coursework requirements of the certifying agency.
  • Bachelor's degree may be waived for those who were ASCP certified prior to the bachelor's degree requirement and hold certification from Health and Human Services.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in medical technology (experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician is pro-rated).
  • Certification from a recognized accrediting body such as MT (ASCP), MLS(ASCP), or equivalent.
