About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Athletic Trainer to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a key member of our Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic, you will provide expert athletic training services to our patients, working closely with our orthopedic physicians and surgeons to deliver exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Expertise: Provide athletic training services for Emory Orthopedics or Sports Medicine, evaluating and treating medical and musculoskeletal pathology consistent with the scope and practice of athletic training clinical competencies.
  • Surgical Support: Assist surgeons with patient positioning, preparation, and draping, maintaining a sterile operating field, and performing tasks such as suturing and tissue retraction.
  • Patient Care: Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations, including range of motion testing, strength testing, and special tests as needed.
  • Therapeutic Procedures: Prepare and assist physicians with injection procedures, provide post-operative wound care and education, and remove sutures and dressings as directed.
  • Patient Education: Serve as a link between patients and physicians, providing educational responsibilities and answering patient questions regarding treatment plans, surgery, rehabilitation, and future care.
Requirements
  • NBCOT Orthopedic Technologist Certification and a minimum of two years of experience as a Certified Athletic Trainer with one year of surgical experience or NBCOT Orthopedic Technologist Certification with completion of an Athletic Training Residency Program and one year of surgical experience.
  • Must obtain NBCOT OT-Surgery Certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association is required.
