About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Functional Safety Engineer to join our team at Ford Motor Company. As a key member of our Product Development team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our connected systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform functional safety analyses, including hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA), fault tree analysis (FTA), hazard operability (HAZOP), and fault tolerant time interval (FTTI) for Connectivity, Comfort, and Convenience (CCC) features and platform systems.
  • Derive functional safety requirements and technical safety requirements for CCC features and platform systems.
  • Create safety verifications and validation reports to validate CCC features.
  • Develop systems modeling using model-based systems engineering tools, such as Cameo Systems Modeler and MagicDraw/SysML.
  • Support functional safety assessments of FuSa work products by performing verification and confirmation reviews.
Requirements
  • Requires a Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in the position offered or 2 years of experience performing functional safety engineering, including applying the ISO 26262 standard to automotive systems.
  • 2 years of experience engineering software-enabled systems.
  • 2 years of experience working with cross-functional teams (calibrators, software engineers, and feature engineers).
  • 2 years of experience creating model-based system engineering using MagicDraw.
