Position Overview:

Role Responsibilities:

As an Energy Market Systems Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining reliable and efficient energy market outcomes. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that MISO's Energy and Ancillary Services market system software operates effectively, meeting the demands of control room operations.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Investigating and resolving market outcomes and customer inquiries.
  • Executing core engineering initiatives related to the Energy and Ancillary Services Market.
  • Developing new system enhancements and market products.

This position offers a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of the Energy and Ancillary Services Market, which is central to MISO's value proposition.

As you grow in this role, you will engage in significant projects such as the redesign of the Day Ahead & Real Time Market Clearing Engine, Multi-Configuration Resources, Distributed Energy Resources, and compliance with FERC Order 881 on Ambient Adjusted Rating.


Success Metrics:

In your first year, you will know you have succeeded if:

  • You can independently support the Energy Market System by addressing inquiries, analyzing market outcomes, and testing market system software.
  • You have established strong relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate collaborative issue resolution.
  • You have implemented at least one innovative process improvement initiative.

Qualifications:

We seek professionals with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in utility operations, transmission operations, or related areas.
  • Preferred experience in market system applications, EMS applications, model development, software testing, or operational support.
